So today is, I believe, the first day I've ended up feeling disappointed. There's no egregious reason and some of it may well be the meh day at work too.
The first-fix of the electrics has been done. Despite talking about required clearances, the installation hasn't happened as I had expected. It's not central either and with the very tight placement of appliances, a higher degree of accuracy was envisaged. Furthermore, there's a few fixtures in altogether unexpected places. I'll have to talk to the builder about it tomorrow. I'm supposed to be in the office tomorrow, but now I'll have to work from home, at least in the morning, to talk this through.
Then those tight dimensions I mentioned have had a further blow. I underestimated the thickness required for the plastering. So now the width of the room is 2.4cm too short to fit everything in!!!
Current plan is to shave 2.4cm off the back of one side of the units/worktop. Not sure what else I can do without losing a corner cupboard and thus the symmetry of the kitchen. This isn't guaranteed to be possible but it's all I have to hang on to right now.
There were some good things to happen (like being able to sort the lintel issue before the plasterer comes and a few of the last little bits of work on roof were done) but I'm just not feeling it this evening.
Tomorrow is a new day, so let's regroup then with a blank slate and see how we go.
