My goodness this door is not getting any easier! Today's Mensa puzzle was to figure out how to use the provided fittings to deliver the promised functionality of the door and then, knowing the required clearances, cut the doors down to size.
This took a surprising amount of time. But as they say - measure twice, cut once. Well, measure repeatedly and cut once but that doesn't have quite the same ring to it!
Used the saw rather than the plane to cut these down as there was 15mm each end to take off.
It turned out that the width didn't need adjusting. So that's a lot of sawing prevented. This makes the next step to be applying wood stain and varnish.
I popped over to the DIY store but they had no samples and the stain had to be made to order. The example pieces of wood bore no resemblance to the colour chart. So I got a couple of colours to test out on some offcuts. Both are darker than expected but need to see it in the morning when it's dry. If we like the colour I'll go and get a bigger tin.
