Mystery hole!
Today I was physically at the office, so I didn't get to see today's carnage. However, when I got home I was met by a highly stressed Tracy who, being eager to offload, told me all about how dusty the inside of the house was and how she'd spent the last hour cleaning it all up.
The dust had come from the installation of the lintels. However, because everyone had been out, the builder couldn't get in to take precautionary measures nor clean up afterwards. So yeah, not a nice surprise for Tracy but at least the walls are not in any danger of falling down.
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice a couple more subtle changes.
1) In the left-hand door (above) the bottom pane of glass has cracked. Not the end of the world as it's all coming out in a few days but in the meantime that's still an external door! I'm surprised it's lasted this long to be honest. It's single glazed and doesn't strike me as particularly thick glass either.
2) There's now a mystery hole between the doors. I say mystery, but I'm fairly sure it's for the radiator pipes. Though that doesn't sound quite so exciting. Still, it provided my first glimpse of beneath the floorboards of the house. It's a mess but not as deep as I expected. I thought I'd see ground that hadn't seen the light of day in 80 years but instead I just saw a carpet of leftover building materials. Also from 80 years ago probably but it's not the same.
So that's the state of play at the end of today. Garden is starting to be reclaimed as all the materials are getting used up. So looking less like a warehouse.
