Kitchen Assemblage Day 10

I'm so very tired now. Had a bit of a meltdown this afternoon if I'm completely honest. It's the constant either working or building that got to me.

Anyway, no point dwelling on that as, despite my foul mood, a lot was actually done today so I choose to focus on the positives.

The firstborn did a really good job at planning the move of all her stuff into the second-born's bedroom. I provided some gentle steering but otherwise it was her plan. There was a diagram, there were measurements and there were calculations. Really good job! She helped move everything too and helped dismantle the bed. She worked really hard for a good 2 hours until we had to stop for lunch.

While I sorted everyone's lunch, Mom and Dad arrived and kindly finished off moving the bed and setting up everything in the second-born's room.

The firstborn's room looks so bare again and I'm still sad at losing her room to the staircase but needs must prevail.

Downstairs, and a bit later, Dad and I got on with the kitchen door. Again the instructions were as much use as a chocolate teapot and to the opening in the wall was not as square as I would have liked.

Nevertheless, we managed to get the top and bottom of the frame fitted.

Then we cut the side pieces down to size. However, these pieces had shaped ends so that shape needed recreating. Got them done though, and installed.

The frame took some effort to get square and it's not perfect but I'm hopeful that it's good enough.

That was the whole day. Still have to cut the doors to size yet nevermind applying wood stain and varnish. Plenty to keep me busy but the kitchen should arrive next week so to avoid space issues, it needs to be done by then.

I need sleep. Not as much as the second-born I suspect. She woke up around 3am and went for a poo (like you do) but instead of going back to bed she went downstairs to watch TV. How she made it through today I don't know.

I'm rambling now. Goodnight all
