Kitchen Assemblage Day 1

Took the tribe on an expedition to B&Q this afternoon. We would have set out in the morning but Tracy got lost and so got back late.

Not the end of the world because that gave time for the first and second borns to help clear the extension. So even more is stacked up in the living room now!

Anyway, I digress. Trip to B&Q went well. Got a load of materials, a stirring rod thing and a tile file (whose rhyming name amuses me far more than it should).

Had to pop over to Homebase for a second tub of grout though. I didn't even know they still existed until I was searching for stock on Google!

Then I started to fill my lungs with dust by giving the extension a thorough clean. The concrete would never be entirely dust free as the act of brushing it actually creates more dust. Nevertheless, I got rid of the bulk of it then hoovered the rest.

So the floor needs something to seal it. Otherwise nothing is going to stick to it and it'll never stop being dusty. I bought a tub of sealant but I believe it's essentially a fancy version of PVA glue.

Down on my hands and knees I used a paint roller to apply the liquid. The concrete was very thirsty but I think I used the right amount as it was supposed to use just under a whole tub and I only have a little bit remaining.

So I ploughed on, finished the floor only to realise that I'd left the cap to the tub on the window sill! Oops. I've used some foil for now. Should be dry in 4 hours.

Finished just as our takeaway arrived. Also, I forgot to mention that when driving over to B&Q lots of the traffic lights turned to green as I approached. A successful day.
