The builders didn't waste a moment today. They got here first thing this morning and got straight to stripping the roof of the tiles that had been put there some 70 years ago. Off they flew, one by one, into the skip below.
With the tiles off, it was time to put new timbers in. The beams of newy newness were required to allow for the new windows. At one point the house was looking very naked.
On they worked. The girls came home from school and they were still going. The second-born went off to Rainbows and they were still going. The sun went down and they were STILL going! 20:00 they finished, 10.5hrs after starting and it was pitch black. Well, it would have been if we didn't live in a city with so much light pollution. They wanted to get it water tight in case there was rain overnight.
Below is my attempt at picturing the roof from the outside...
And here's the same area, but from the inside...
We did have a casualty to report. Another of the firstborn's shelves fell off the wall. This time all the vibration from the roof must have shook it off the wall. Just goes to show how crap the wall quality is, how crap my drill was and how dumb I was to persevere despite seeing these issues.
No outdoor shot today. I tried but my phone camera just isn't sensitive enough. My proper camera would have done the job but goodness knows where that is right now!
