The electrician arrived first. He fitted all the plug sockets, light switches and light pendants in the new loft rooms and also wired up the fire alarms on the two landings. He also ran the wires from the loft to the fuse box via the exterior of the side wall. So everything should be ready to be hooked up.
The carpenter was next to arrive. I think it was this guy that got the music going. Whoever it was, they were playing some good stuff today. I struggled not to sing along! It seemed like a playlist rather than the radio.
Anyway, his other contribution was fitting skirting boards to most of the walls in the loft area and also most of the door frames. He also fitted a door to the even boxier box room; which looked very wonky but it was just an optical illusion (it was actually the edge of the plasterboard that wasn't level).
Judging by the genre of detritus that kept flying past my window today, the builders were up on the scaffolding continuing to fit fascias and guttering. Not a good day to be working outside though - there's been a strong cold wind all day and a few showers to add to the unpleasantness too.
With winter fast approaching, I didn't get any exterior photos. I also debated what to photograph on the inside - do you really want to see each stretch of new woodwork, every new plug socket etc.? I settled for this shot of the top of the new stairs, which shows a bit of everything...
What I now need to do is empty the under-stairs cupboard so that the electrician can access the fuse box in the morning and then report the kitchen unit damage to the supplier. The fun doesn't stop!
