Over the weekend we finalised plans for the kitchen units, bought cupboard door / drawer handles, ordered some worktop samples, ordered the radiator and gave the official thumbs-up to stage 2 of the building work (i.e. the loft). I think we found some time to sleep too!
Kitchen Cabinets et al
We had to get the worktops and handles separately due to our choices being discontinued at the kitchen place. Our new choices are going to be cheaper and even better, so it's no loss.
Also decided against a fitted fridge-freezer. You get a lot more appliance for your money if it's free-standing, plus the saving on the unit. So we've got an extra 100 litres of capacity for £200 less overall.
Radiator
This is going to be awesome. Lovely little dark grey number, very tall, slim with a big BTU.
Yeah, calculating the BTU was a pain. There's supposed to be a standard calculation so that you're comparing like for like but some places use a different T value. This has the effect of making a radiator look more powerful than it actually is.
The T value used in the UK should be 50. This relates to the temperature of the boiler and differentials between input and output temperature. Which in a modern house should be lower. That's my understanding of it but you can read more here.
